Explore the City of Herculaneum

You can explore the city by using the panoramic images shown on the city map. Just click the site locations. At the geologic sites you will be making obserations about the volcanic deposits that buried the city. At the archeological sites you will be learing about life in Herculaneum just before the 79 AD eruption.

To complete Task 9 in your field notebook, you must visit the two Geologic panorama sites in Herculaneum, at the Palaestra and at the newer excavations near the waterfront. Instructions about data collection are provided on the pages for the Geologic sites.

When you have completed your exploration of Herculaneum, and completed Task 9 in your notebook, you can move ahead to synthesize your observations in the final part of the exercise.
